G Mezzo-Soprano Saxophone
This is one of the rarest members of the saxophone family and is of recent origin. I include it only for completeness sake. It is built like a large Soprano Saxophone and it pitched exactly midway between the B-flat Soprano and the E-flat Alto Saxophones (a minor third below and a major third above respectively). It does truly deserve the name “mezzo-soprano” as it is, in construction, simply a large Soprano Saxophone.
Note, the F Alto Saxophone is sometimes known as a Mezzo-Soprano as well.
