A Tale of Two Tenors

Today, I recorded a short video demonstrating the tonal differences between the C Tenor or C Melody Saxophone and the B-flat Tenor Saxophone.  Here are the results.

Most commonly associated with jazz, the Tenor Saxophone is the second most popular instrument in the family.  It has a husky and distinctive voice.  I personally find the Tenor to be the hardest saxophone to write for in an independent and idiomatic way (but that is my own predilection!).  Continue reading “B-flat Tenor Saxophone”
